WCET 2012 ConferenceWelcome to The World Council of Enterostomal Therapists UK (WCET UK)

WCET UK is a charitable trust, established in 1995, to promote the art and science of stoma care nursing (and related conditions) and to improve facilities and opportunities for nurses and others engaged in such care to further their education and skills in the profession of stoma therapy nursing, thereby ensuring specialised nursing care for all people with a need for such care.

WCET UK is a member organisation of the World Council of Enterostomal Therapists (WCET) which internationally encompasses continence and wound care in addition to stoma care.

WCET UK is the only professional organisation solely for nurses with an interest in stoma care and related subjects.


WCET Objectives

The objectives of the WCET are:

  • To provide a corporate identity for those concerned with the care of people with stomas.
  • To provide the opportunity for members to meet for the purpose of discussing common interests related to enterostomal therapy.
  • To promote activities which will assist members engaged in enterostomal therapy to increase their knowledge and enhance their contribution to the subject of stoma therapy.
  • To promote increased awareness in others of the role and contribution of the WCET.

World Ostomy Day

Thank you to all who have supported World Ostomy Day. We have been amazed by the interest shown in Manchester, Glasgow, Reading and Birmingham and hope that we have managed to spread the word!!

At each venue there was the chance to enter our competition to win a Wii. There were many entrants and the winner was VALERIE HAINES from Reading. Thank you to all who entered and congratulations to Valerie.  Please continue to help us raise the profile of living with a stoma. We are determined to progress!!!
